However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.

2 Chronicles 32:31

Hezekiah was a righteous king of faith in the southern kingdom of Israel, Judah who experienced God’s miracle of causing the sun’s shadow to move back ten degrees.

However, instead of boasting about God, he boasted about his own wealth and military power to the princes.

The phrase "He departed from him" does not mean that God completely abandoned Hezekiah, but rather that the Lord withdrew His grace and help to test whether God or himself was the priority in his heart.

Hezekiah stumbled in that test due to his pride, but through repentance, he has God’s salvation. (32:26)

He warns us that while we hold onto God and pray during times of difficulty, when things are going well, we suddenly become self-centered and completely forget God’s grace and help.

God’s test is for the purpose of achieving salvation, but Satan’s temptation is for the purpose of achieving destruction.

The test of God is to lead us to an upgrade of faith!
