여자가 말하기를, " 옳습니다, 주님, 하지만 개들도 그들 주인의 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기를 먹나이다."

마태복음 15:27

사도 마태는 귀신들린 딸을 가진 엄마의 심정을 노골적으로 표현합니다.

다시 표현 한다면, "주님의 말씀이 맞습니다. 감히 주인의 것을 탐 할수 없는 나는 천한 개입니다. 그러나 개라 할지라도 주인의 상 밑에서 떨어지는 부스러기를 먹지 않습니까!

이 엄마의 고백이 예수님의 마음을 감동케 했을 뿐만 아니라 그녀를 존경하게 만듭니다.

" 오, 여자여!

너의 믿음이 대단히 크구나!

네 소원대로 되리라!"

여자를 경시하는 이스라엘 정서에서 "여자여!"는 극찬과 존경을 표하는 말입니자.

예수님께서 혼인 잔치에서 어머니 마리아에게 표현한 말이었습니다.

그리고 상대적으로 이스라엘과 제자들의 믿음의 현 주소를 보게하는 귀한 말씀입니다.

믿음있음은 자기를 드러내는 것이 아니라 좁고 험한, 낮고 낮은 자리로 찾아가는 순례자의 길이 아닌가...라는 생각을 했습니다.

The Apostle Matthew vividly conveys the desperate heart of a mother whose daughter was possessed by a demon.

​To rephrase her words: "Lord, You are right. I am a lowly dog, unworthy to claim what belongs to the Master. Yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table!"

​This mother's confession not only touched Jesus’ heart but also moved Him to respect her.

​"O woman, great is your faith!

Let it be to you as you desire.

​In the cultural context of ancient Israel, where women were often looked down upon, addressing someone as "O woman!" was an expression of highest praise and deep respect. It was the very same phrase Jesus used when addressing His mother, Mary, at the wedding feast in Cana.

​Furthermore, this account reveals a stark contrast, shedding light on the true state of faith among the Israelites and His disciples.

​It brought me to reflect that true faith is not about exalting oneself, but rather walking the pilgrim's path—seeking out the narrow, rough, and lowliest places.

​The narrow path is the journey of faith!
