Q: Why did He do this?

First, it was because of God’s ordained sequence of salvation: the Gospel had to be preached to Israel first. Later, through the apostles, the Gospel was proclaimed to the Gentiles—a process that continues to this day until the Lord returns. Second, Tyre and Sidon were the hometown of the wicked Queen Jezebel, a region historically famous for idolatry since Old Testament times. Between the mother of the demon-possessed child from that area and the Israelites who were arrogant in their chosen-people mindset (treating Gentiles like "dogs"), this dramatic encounter served as a test to reveal who truly possessed genuine faith.

예수께서 대답하여 이르시기를, "자녀들에게 줄 떡을 취하여 개들에게 주는 것이 마땅치 아니하느니라."

마태복음 15:26

두로와 시돈 지방의 가나안 여자가 자기 딸의 귀신들렸음을 고쳐주시길 청합니다.

'이스라엘의 잃어버린 양외에 다른데로 보내심을 받지 않았다.'고 예수님께서 매몰차 듯 거절하십니다.

왜 일까요?

첫 째로는 하나님께서 계획하신 구원의 순서로서 이스라엘에게 복음설파가 먼저였기 때문이었습니다.

그리고, 나중에 사도들을 통해 이방인에게 복음이 설파되었고 주님 다시 오실 때까지 진행중인 것이지요.

두 번째는 두로와 시돈 지역은 악한 이세벨의 고향으로 구약시대 때 부터 우상숭배로 유명한 지역이었습니다.

그 지역의 귀신들린 아이의 엄마와 선민사상으로 교만한 이스라엘은 이방인들을 개로 취급했으므로, 극적인 이 둘을 대상으로 진정한 믿음이 누구에게 있는가를 밝히는 테스트였던 것입니다.

이와 같이 때로는 우리의 기도가 거절되는 것 처럼 생각될 때가 있습니다.

이는 주님의 거절이 아닙니다!!!

"항상 기뻐하라!

쉬지 말고 기도하라!

범사에 감사하라!"

하나님께서 우리를 믿음의 반석위에 굳게 세우시겠다는 훈련인 것입니다.✝️🎁

The righteous will live by faith!

A Canaanite woman from the region of Tyre and Sidon begged Jesus to heal her demon-possessed daughter.

However, Jesus refused her almost harshly, saying, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."

Why did He do this?

Likewise, there are times when it feels like our prayers are being rejected.

But this is not the Lord's rejection!

It is a test to see whether we obey God’s command:

"Rejoice always,

pray continually,

give thanks in all circumstances!"

It is a spiritual training ground through which God firmly establishes us on the rock of faith. ✝️🎁
