God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,
“ LORD, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”?
Romans 11:2,3
하나님께서 알았던 주의 백성들을 버리시지 아니하셨느니라.
너희는 엘리야가 이스라엘을 송사 한 것에 관한 성경말씀도 알지 못하느냐.
"여호와여 저들이 주의 선지자들을 죽였으며, 주의 제단들을 헐어 버렸고, 나 혼자 남았는데 내 목숨도 찾나이다."
로마서 11:2,3
What is the Apostle Paul trying to suggest to us by bringing up Elijah?
Even when we are pursued by evil, isolated and ostracized, or gripped by the terror of death, God never gives up on or abandons His lost sheep.
Even Elijah, a man of great spiritual strength, pleaded against Israel before God, yet God protected Israel to the very end!
Why?
Is it not because of His own righteous name?
Even though my past may be stained, torn, dirty, and full of flaws, the fact that I am now sanctified as a daughter of God is entirely for the glory of His name.
In other words, I confess that it is because of the Lord's grace and His name of infinite love.
Because my friend is also a covenant child, the Lord leads us in the paths of righteousness.
The LORD leads us in the path of righteousness for His name's sake!
사도 바울 선생님은 엘리야를 빗대어 우리에게 무엇을 시사하시려는 걸까요?
우리가 때로는 악으로 부터 쫓길 수도 있고, 고립된 상황에서 왕따를 당할 수도 있고, 죽을 것 같은 공포에 사로잡힐 수도 있는 중에도 하나님께서는 결코 잃은 양을 그대로 포기해서 버리시지 않는다는 것입니다.
영성이 뛰어난 엘리야 역시 이스라엘의 죄악을 하나님께 고소하지만 하나님은 끝까지 이스라엘을 지키셨습니다!
왜일까요?
하나님 자신의 의로운 이름 때문이 아닐까요!
지나온 나의 과거가 얼룩지고 찢어지고 더러우며 흠집 투성이 일지라도 지금의 내가 하나님의 딸로 성결케 된 것은 전적인 하나님의 이름을 위한 영광이라고 생각합니다.
다시 말하면 주님의 은혜와 무한한 사랑의 이름 때문이라고 고백합니다.
우리 친구 역시 언약 백성이기 때문에 주님의 의의 길로 인도하십니다.
The LORD leads us the path of righteousness for His name's sake!
