James 4:6 / 11-04-26
But He gives more grace.
Therefore He says:
"God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble. "
James 4:6
" you will be like God" 교만은 하나님 같이 되고자 하는 사탄의 결정적 유혹이고, 죄성입니다.
"Are you Christian?"
He said, "yes!"
I said, " I don't think so!"
Parking lot
The Lord God encourages us to be humble.
Who Is a Proud Person?
One who desires to be like God!
Genesis 3:5 says,
“You will be like God.”
Pride is the decisive temptation of Satan, who desires to be like God. It is also rooted in our sinful nature.
Isn't a spiritually fallen person someone who acts as though his or her own will is the very will of God?
The First Day of Mission Trip for the Gospel Outreach in Public Schools
On the first day of mission trip to bring the Gospel into public schools, went to Greenville High School in South Carolina. However, all the public schools were closed, so I went to Bob Jones University, a Christian university, instead.
I was impressed by the students' neat and modest appearance.
I was also grateful to God as I joyfully handed out daily devotional calendars, which the students gladly received.
After distributing 50 calendars, just as I was about to distribute another box, a police officer approached me and told me to report to the student center office and obtain permission.
So I went to the office. It was decorated with a very formal, classical interior that was almost overwhelming in its solemnity.
I explained to a white male administrator in Student Affairs that these were Bible calendars and that we were conducting a campaign to encourage students to read a daily Scripture passage from the New King James Version.
His expression immediately became stern, and he told me that we were not allowed to do this on campus.
Somewhat taken aback, I showed him the calendar and asked, "How can you prohibit this when this is a Christian university?"
Without even looking at the calendar, he simply replied, "No!"
I said, "All right," and then asked him,
"Are you Christian?"
He said, "Yes!"
I replied, "I don't think so!"
And I walked away.
When I arrived at the parking lot, I sat in the car and vigorously shook the dust off my floor mats. Suddenly, a wave of emotion welled up inside me.
I began to think about our Lord Jesus: how He was rejected by His own people, the Israelites, His own flesh and blood, how He was scourged, and how the crowds cried out for His death.
What must our Lord have felt in His heart at that moment?
I can understand rejection from a ordinary university, but why would a Christian university reject a good ministry?
Was this university merely conservative but not truly evangelical?
Did they believe that anything introduced beyond what they themselves teach would be contrary to the doctrine of true faith?
What, then, is the standard by which they make such judgments?
Isn't the Word of God supposed to be the standard for the lives of us Christians?
As I reflected on that man, I was led to examine myself.
How deeply have the teachings of Jesus taken root in me?
How much have they been broken down, refined, and matured within my heart, again and again, so that my life is becoming pure and spiritually mature?
I realize once again that only the Word of God can humble me and deliver me from my own fallen pride.
What a grace it is that God's Word continually corrects and transforms my heart!
