Genesis 38:26 / 10-24-26

So Judah acknowledged them and said, "She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son." And he never knew her again.

Genesis 38:26

유다가 그것들을 알아보고 말하되, "그녀가 나 보다 더 의롭도다, 내가 그 녀를 내 아들 셀라에게 주지않았기 때문이라." 그리고 다시는 그 녀를 가까이 하지 아니하였더라.

창세기 38:26

아버지 야곱을 속인 유다는 창녀로 둔갑한 며느리 다말에게 속아 동침하여 며느리를 임신케 했습니다.

동네에서 과부가 임신을 했으니 음녀로 응징을 할려 할 때 다말은 시 아버지의 도장과 허리끈과 지팡이를 증표로 갖고 있다가 사람들에게 내어 보이며 이것들이 누구의 것이냐? 유다로 부터 받은 증표를 보이고 아이의 아비는 유다임을 밝힙니다.

그 증표가 자기의 것임을 본 유다의 고백이, "그녀가 나 보다 의롭다!"

여기서 나는 참 깊고 깊어 헤 아릴 수 없는 성경의 신비함을 깨닫습니다.

그리고 시 아버지 유다와 며느리 다말 사이에 태어난 아들 베레스가 다윗의 혈통이요, 구약의 사람들이 기다리던 메시야, 그리고 신약의 우리가 기다리는 다시 오실 만유의 왕이신 예수님, 하나님의 구속사에 기록되는 이름으로 성경은 기록합니다.

(마태복음 1:3, 히브리서 7:14)

이 사건을 통해 인간 어느 누구도 의롭지 못하여 죄가 왕 노릇하나 그런 곳에 하나님의 의로 말미암은 은혜의 구원하심이 더욱 더 넘친다는 진리.

그리고 죄의 사단의 머리를 밟으신 예수 그리스도로 인해 영생을 얻게 하신다는 진리의 말씀을 각인 시켜 주십니다.

The righteous will live by faith in Jesus Christ!

Judah, who had deceived his father Jacob, was himself deceived by his daughter-in-law Tamar, who disguised herself as a prostitute, leading him to sleep with her and make her pregnant.

​When the village sought to punish her for becoming pregnant as a widow—accusing her of immorality—Tamar produced the seal, cord, and staff that belonged to her father-in-law. She presented them to the people, asking whose they were, thereby revealing the pledges she had received from Judah and identifying him as the father of her child.

​Upon recognizing that the pledges belonged to him, Judah confessed, "She is more righteous than I!"

​In this moment, I realize the profound and fathomless mystery of the Scriptures.

​Furthermore, Perez, the son born between the father-in-law Judah and his daughter-in-law Tamar, became part of the lineage of David. The Scriptures record his name in God's redemptive history—leading to the Messiah awaited by the people of the Old Testament, and Jesus, the King of all creation who will come again, awaited by us in the New Testament.

​Through this event, we are reminded of the truth that no human being is righteous and that sin reigns; yet, in such a place, the grace of salvation through God's righteousness overflows all the more.

​It engraves upon us the truth of eternal life granted through Jesus Christ, who crushed the head of sin and Satan.
